FIB Unpad Editorial Team – The Performing Arts Team of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran (FIB Unpad), was honored to perform at the Africa Day 2026 celebration, an international event organized by the Consulate General of Seychelles in Jakarta. The prestigious event was held on Friday, 22 May 2026, at the Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta. It brought together diplomats, representatives from African countries, and distinguished guests from various sectors.

On this occasion, the FIB Unpad Performing Arts Team presented Ketuk Tilu Cikeruhan, a performance developed through the revitalization of Ketuk Tilu Cikeruhan Buhun, a traditional Sundanese folk dance. This revitalization transformed the dance into a communicative and representative stage performance suitable for an international audience.
Africa Day: A Celebration of Solidarity and International Dialogue
Africa Day is commemorated annually on 25 May to mark the establishment of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 1963. The occasion symbolizes unity, sovereignty, and the collective struggle of African nations for liberation from colonialism. It also serves as a platform to strengthen Africa’s relations with the international community, including Indonesia.
In Indonesia, the Seychelles Consulate General in Jakarta has consistently hosted the annual Africa Day celebration, making it one of the country’s prominent platforms for cultural diplomacy. FIB Unpad’s participation in this event underscores the role of higher education institutions as active contributors to fostering cultural exchange and strengthening ties between Indonesia and the international community.
Contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
This initiative aligns with two of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely:
- SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities
By preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Ketuk Tilu Cikeruhan, the initiative helps safeguard an important element of local identity and ensures its transmission to future generations. - SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
The performance strengthens international cooperation and cultural partnerships between Indonesia and African countries by fostering cultural exchange through a multilateral diplomatic forum.
