On Friday, May 8, 2026, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Padjadjaran University (FIB Unpad) welcomed a delegation of lecturers from the History Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (FISIP UNY), as part of a comparative study and collaboration initiative between the two study programs.
Comparative Study Activities
The meeting took place in the Quality Assurance Unit (UPM) room, 1st Floor of Building A (Dean’s Office), FIB Unpad. The visiting delegation was directly welcomed by the Vice Dean for Learning, Student Affairs, and Research, Dr. Lina Meilinawati R., M,Hum., along with the Head of the Department of History and Philology, Dr. Mumuh Muhsin Z., M.Hum., and the Manager of Research, Innovation, and Partnerships, Ferli Hasanah, S.S., M.Hum.
The event then continued with a discussion and audience session, which was also attended by the Head of the Undergraduate History Study Program, Dr. Miftahul Falah, M.Hum., and the Head of the Arabic Literature Study Program, Dr. Eka Kurnia Firmansyah, M.Hum., representing FIB Unpad. Meanwhile, the delegation from the UNY History Study Program consisted of three lecturers, namely Eka Ningtyas, M.A., Kuncoro Hadi, M.A., and Nanang Setiawan, M.A.

Discussions Ranging from Student Final Projects to Study Specializations
The discussion touched upon the topic of student final project schemes. It is noted that the UNY History Study Program has not yet implemented alternatives outside of the conventional thesis, such as journal publications or documentary film production. This differs from the FIB Unpad History Study Program, which for the past two years has implemented alternative schemes, including publication in Sinta 3 accredited journals. Moving forward, the Unpad History Study Program will also begin implementing other schemes out of a total of 10 final project schemes regulated in the Rector’s regulation.
Various other topics were also discussed in the forum, including study specializations across all degree levels, student freedom in political demonstration activities, arrangements for research collaboration and community service, curriculum adjustments to meet current needs, as well as the laboratory facilities currently in active use.
This partnership visit concluded with a social gathering and a group photo session between both parties, marking the establishment of a closer relationship between the History Study Program of FISIP UNY and the History Study Program of FIB Unpad.
This partnership visit between the History Study Program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) and the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) at Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) is highly relevant to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Through academic discussions on curriculum updates, laboratory facilities, and innovative approaches to undergraduate final projects, such as the alternative of publishing in Sinta 3-accredited scientific journals. Both institutions seek to improve the quality of higher education and make it more adaptive to the changing times (SDG 4). Furthermore, this collaboration and exchange of ideas strengthen synergy between higher education institutions in building solid partnerships to advance research capacity, community engagement, and sustainable academic innovation (SDG 17).
