This research examines the integration of motifs, production techniques, and design in Kasumedangan batik through a comparative approach between Citengah Batik (Sumedang, Indonesia) and Cyntok Batik (Kedah, Malaysia). The main focus of this study is to identify similarities and differences in visual aspects (motifs and ornaments), technical processes (production methods), and design as cultural products from two regions with distinct historical and cultural backgrounds.
Through a comparative approach and design analysis, this study aims to explore the potential of batik as an inspiration for multicultural Asian fashion design. Historical and cultural dimensions are also considered to understand how cross-regional interactions in Southeast Asia influence the development of batik in both areas.
The findings are expected to yield an integrative concept that combines the local uniqueness of each batik tradition into fashion design innovations representing a multicultural Asian identity without diminishing their embedded traditional values.
