Jatinangor, 24 July 2026 — The Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) at Universitas Padjadjaran held interviews for prospective postgraduate students in the first intake for the 2026/2027 academic year on Friday, 24 July 2026. The event was attended by prospective Doctoral and Master’s students applying via the Regular, Fast Track, High-Achieving Alumni, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathways.
Interview Sessions
The interviews were held in two sessions. The first session took place from 07.30 to 11.00 WIB for prospective Master’s and Doctoral students on the Regular, Fast Track and High-Achieving Alumni pathways. Meanwhile, the second session took place from 13.00 to 16.00 WIB for prospective Master’s students on the RPL pathway.
In the first session, 10 prospective Doctoral Programme students and 26 prospective Master’s Programme students took part in interviews. For the Doctoral Programme in Literary Studies, participants came from the specialisations of Philology, Literature, History and Cultural Studies. Meanwhile, the Master’s Programme comprises the Master’s Programme in Literature, with specialisations in Philology, Contemporary Literature, History, Cultural Studies and Digital Culture, as well as the Master’s Programme in Linguistics.
Of the 10 prospective Doctoral Programme students who attended the interviews, 2 were from the field of Literature, 3 from Cultural Studies, and 5 from Linguistics. As for the 26 prospective Master’s Programme students, 9 were from Linguistics and 17 from Literature, comprising 2 specialising in Digital Culture, 4 in History, 7 in Cultural Studies, and 4 in Contemporary Literature. The interviews for this session were conducted both in person and online.
Meanwhile, the second session was attended by 204 prospective students for the Master’s Programme via the RPL route, all of whom took part in online interviews. The interview process involved 25 lecturers from the Faculty of Humanities (FIB) at Unpad, who acted as interviewers.
Interviews to Assess Participants’ Academic Readiness and Commitment
At the opening of the interviews for applicants in the Regular, Fast Track and High-Achieving Alumni streams, the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs and Research at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran (FIB Unpad), Dr Lina Meilinawati Rahayu, M.Hum., stated that the interview is the final stage in the new student admissions selection process. Applicants are therefore expected to approach the process with seriousness and openness.
“This interview is the final stage of the admissions process, so it must be approached with seriousness and openness. The interviewers will not only assess candidates’ initial academic potential, but also their commitment and readiness to undertake their studies,” said Dr Lina.
The RPL Scheme Offers Teachers the Opportunity to Continue Their Studies
Meanwhile, at the start of the interviews for participants in the Teacher Scholarship scheme via the RPL scheme, Dr Lina explained that the interviews form part of the assessment process, the results of which will be submitted to the university as one of the factors to be taken into account in the graduation process.
He emphasised that applicants for the Teacher Scholarship must still meet all the specified requirements. One of these is achieving the minimum required scores in the Academic Aptitude Test (TKA) and the English Language Proficiency Test (TKBI), which are 450 each. Applicants who do not meet these requirements will automatically be excluded from the process of applying for the Teacher Scholarship.
“However, for teachers who are interested and willing to enroll in the RPL program at their own expense, the faculty will bring this to the university’s attention so that they may be given the opportunity to participate in the program,” she explained.
These interviews are an important part of the admissions process for new graduate students at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Unpad, for the 2026/2027 academic year. Through this interview process, the faculty seeks to assess prospective students’ academic readiness, commitment, and suitability for their chosen program of study.
