Jatinangor, West Java – The provision of clean and affordable energy is currently a matter of public desire. This is inseparable from the advantages it has, such as being environmentally friendly and economical. One of the efforts to achieve this is by providing adequate public transportation in the campus environment.

In line with this, Universitas Padjadjaran collaborated with Beam Mobility to bring about a green campus. Unpad initiated this by providing 500 units of electric bicycles at the Jatinangor campus as one of the on-campus transportation. On the other hand, the vehicle is also used as a mobilization operation during the 36th National Student Academic Week (Pimnas) at Unpad Campus on November 26 – December 1, 2023.

The Coordinator of Cooperation for the 36th Pimnas Organizing Committee, Dr. Cipta Endyana, M.T. stated that each electric bicycle unit is equipped with a helmet device and user insurance.

“Starting from Pimnas, this electric bike will be a means of transportation on the Jatinangor Campus (Unpad),” Cipta tells Unpad Media Channel.

Cipta adds that the electric bicycle can be used by anyone during the Pimnas period. He also mentions that the on-campus two-wheeled vehicles will be distributed at several points of the building that will be the location of Pimnas.

Cipta hopes that all Unpad residents can continue to utilize the Beam electric bicycle after Pimnas is over. This is in accordance with Unpad’s support for preserving the environment.

“It is also expected that emissions on campus will decrease with the presence of this electric bike,” he says.

Environmental sustainability by reducing carbon emissions should be a shared responsibility. The use of environmentally friendly vehicles should be easily accessible to all elements of society. With that, the habit of leaving a carbon footprint is reduced and the condition of nature becomes better.
