Promoting Sustainable Commuting through Carpooling at FIB Unpad
The Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB), Universitas Padjadjaran, is committed to supporting environmentally friendly practices through its Smart & Green Campus program. One of the key initiatives is the implementation of a carpooling system for lecturers and staff, aimed at reducing energy consumption, minimizing pollution, and fostering a culture of sustainability.
The carpooling program operates regularly from Monday to Friday, with designated schedules and routes covering areas such as Buah Batu, Bandung (via Toll Pasteur), Cicaheum, Ujungberung, Sumedang, Cimahi, and Cileunyi. Each participating lecturer coordinates departure and return times—typically leaving at 06:00–07:00 WIB and returning at 16:00 WIB—making commuting more efficient while also reducing the number of vehicles on the road.
By sharing rides, FIB not only promotes eco-friendly commuting but also strengthens a sense of community among faculty members and staff. This initiative directly contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 13: Climate Action.
Through this program, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences demonstrates its commitment to providing sustainable solutions for daily commuting, while setting an example for other academic institutions to adopt similar green practices.
